We caught up with Omar Najam, a recent college grad, who dreams of one-day directing for the big screen:
What is your earliest experience with VR/360 video?
It was probably back in college during a psych lab experiment about spacial thinking. After that, it was at Indiecade in E3 in 2015.
What’s your major?
I was a film and media major.
Where do you hope to see yourself in 10 years?
Directing features.
What’s your favorite thing about living in Southern California?
There are so many great natural features all around us, from beaches to deserts.
When you’re not working or studying, how do you like to spend your time?
I like to write, watch movies, go for walks/hikes, play music and tabletop RPGs.
Since you started experimenting with 360° video, how has that changed your perception of content creation?
I now think about a whole sphere of visual experience, making sure every angle has something interesting to look at. I’m also now thinking about how to direct attention since the viewer controls framing.
TYSM Omar! Tune in next week to hear about Attika Greene and her acting aspirations.
